Hi folks, I know we’re usually really comedic and like to have fun over here, but there’s something very important going on right now that needs to be addressed.
Right now, Californians are facing a monumental vote this November 4th. Not just which president they want, but wether or not they want to take rights away from a large group of people. Proposition 8 is legislation that will end gay marriage in the state of California and, for the first time in history, TAKE AWAY RIGHTS FROM PEOPLE.
We cannot let this happen. No matter what your stance is on gay marriage, we can’t have the kind of hatred and bigotry that this proposition wants to create in our country. Everyone deserves equality under law, not just a select few. So please, donate what you can to No On Prop 8. Wether you support gay marriage or not, please do not support hatred and inequality.
Update: Apple today donated 100,000 to No On Prop 8.
A WORD FROM TIM TO THE BIGOT:
I recently received the following e-mail from someone against prop 8:
I don’t support companies that support immorality.
Bigoted? Because I disagree with gay MARRIAGE, a historically christian institution which says that it should be between a man and a woman. Trust I’m no bigot, I just have values that I’m not ashamed of. You Liberals are all the same, anything goes, no wonder 10% more Americans consider themselves Conservative. Its because idiot Liberals believe that their morals should be imposed on everyone else. I generally buy two new computers each year, I almost bought an eeePC and wish I did, I could have saved money, and I wouldn’t have been supporting something that I authentically don’t believe in.
And no I am not a racist, I believe in affirmative action, so before you predictable numbskulls go that why let me strike it down pre-emptively
My response:
HAHAHA, marriage is a christian institution? So what were they doing before jesus came along?
So treating homosexuals like people is ‘radical’? What a sick, sad world you inhabit. This is going to get long, and I apologise to everyone if it gets TOO long.
But let’s say homosexuality actually IS a sin. Where in the Bible does it say, exactly that homosexuality is the worst sin there is? And why, if homosexuality is so HORRIBLE and AWFUL, is there no mention of it in the Ten Commandments? Adultery’s in there. Stealing’s in there. Idolatry. Lying. Envy. But not homosexuality. Why are gays specially persecuted while people who routinely violate one or more the Ten Commandments get a pass?
Unsurprisingly, the Bible is pretty straightforward on the subject of judging people:
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:1-5
Why? “[F]or all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23
To see what Jesus himself thinks of this sort of judgmental attitude, look at John 8:1-11. This is the story of the woman accused of adultery who was brought to Jesus. His own proclamation was simply this: “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” He then FORGAVE her the sin without even being asked. By this standard, the so-called “Christians” who are pushing this bit of morality are nothing of the sort.
